Health and Safety
- Anglo-Eastern is a people business. The health and safety of our crew and employees is paramount.
- We place equal importance on both mental and physical health and well-being, providing medical coverage, support and access to outreach services.
- We expect our crew and employees to take responsibility for their own health and safety, to ensure they are fit for work, and to perform their duties safely and responsibly at all times.
- Our company policies strive towards 100% compliance and a zero-tolerance environment of no injuries, casualties and accidents.
- Our dedicated Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) division manages ongoing health and safety training and campaigns that go above and beyond minimum regulatory compliance.
- Crew and employees are required to report any dangerous or unsafe acts, decisions or situations observed on the job or in the workplace that could jeopardise the health and safety of others.

- Leadership and Soft Skills: In addition to technical training, we emphasize the development of leadership and soft skills. Zero Tolerance for Drugs & Alcohol
- At Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy, we maintain an unwavering zero-tolerance policy regarding drugs and alcohol.
- The maritime profession demands the highest standards of safety, discipline, and responsibility, and substance abuse poses a significant threat to the well-being of our cadets, faculty, and staff.
- Our policy strictly prohibits the possession, use, distribution, or influence of drugs and alcohol on campus and during all Academy-related activities.
- We believe that a drug and alcohol-free environment is essential to fostering the professional development and personal growth of our cadets.
- Violations of this policy will result in severe disciplinary actions, including immediate reporting of the case to administrative bodies (e.g. IMU, DGS, …) and suspension or expulsion from AEMA.
- We are committed to supporting our cadets in making healthy and responsible choices, providing education and resources on the dangers of substance abuse.

Zero Tolerance for Ragging and Bullying
- According to the Raghwan committee appointed by Hon’ble Supreme Court Ragging means doing an act which causes or is likely to cause insult or annoyance or fear or apprehension or threat or intimidation or outraging of modesty or injury to a student.
- At Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA), we uphold a strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and bullying. We are dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where all cadets can pursue their education and personal growth without fear of harassment or intimidation.
- In alignment with the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations and the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999, AEMA unequivocally prohibits any form of ragging.
- Ragging or Bullying, in any form—physical, verbal, or psychological—is equally unacceptable at AEMA. We are committed to maintaining an environment free from any kind of harassment, ensuring that every cadet feels secure and valued.
- The UGC & Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999, demands rigorous disciplinary actions against those involved in ragging, including suspension, expulsion, and legal proceedings.
- We strongly encourage cadets to report any incidents of ragging or bullying promptly.

Zero Tolerance for Sexual Harassment
- At Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA), we enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment, ensuring that every individual on our campus feels secure and valued.
- In accordance with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, we are dedicated to preventing and addressing any form of sexual harassment.
- Our Sexual Harrassment policy covers all cadets, staff, visitors and faculty members, providing a clear framework for preventing, reporting, and responding to incidents of sexual harassment.
- Any form of sexual harassment, whether physical, verbal, or non-verbal, is strictly prohibited. Offenders will face severe disciplinary actions, which may include suspension, expulsion, and legal consequences.
- We encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses sexual harassment to report it immediately to the officials concerned (ICC members) for the prompt and appropriate action against the culprits.
- AEMA is committed to creating an environment where all members can work, study, and live free from any form of harassment.
- By adhering to these stringent policies, AEMA fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful community for everyone.

Zero Tolerance for Caste-Based Discrimination
- Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where all cadets, faculty, and staff are treated with dignity and respect, irrespective of their caste or any other social category.
- AEMA has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards caste-based discrimination. Any form of discrimination based on caste, including but not limited to harassment, bullying, or denial of opportunities, is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- Prohibited Conduct:
- Making derogatory remarks, jokes, or slurs based on caste.
- Discriminating against individuals based on their caste in matters of admissions, placements, or promotions.
- Denying equal access to facilities, resources, or opportunities based on caste.
- Engaging in any form of harassment or bullying based on caste.
- Retaliating against individuals who report or witness caste-based discrimination.
Communities

Community Relations
- Anglo-Eastern believes in corporate social responsibility and the importance of giving back to society.
- In those communities where we have a strong presence, we engage in charity work and other community initiatives.
- In India, Anglo-Eastern operates and helps fund Anavi, a multi-chapter charity network run by crew member spouses that sponsors donations and renovation works for deserving institutions like orphanages, schools for underprivileged children, homes for the disabled or elderly, and hospitals.
- We foster strong relationships with government authorities, chambers of commerce, industry associations, professional bodies and other groups though active participation and co-operation.

Environment
- Anglo-Eastern values our environment, oceans and biodiversity, and strongly supports clean and sustainable ways to take the industry forwards.
- We believe in environmental stewardship and are committed to protecting our oceans and marine life by minimising all forms of pollution through responsible shipping, cleaner fuels and practices, strict regulatory compliance, as well as supply chain management, community initiatives, and importantly, education.
- We are proud adherents of MARPOL and are certified to ISO 14001 Environmental Management standards.
- A significant portion of our fleet is QUALSHIP21-certified, with a growing number of these having since attained additional E-Zero status.
- We continue to educate our crew, employees and other stakeholders about the need to reduce plastic waste and follow the 3Rs of reduce, reuse and recycle in the hopes of one day achieving plastic-free oceans for future generations to enjoy.

Governance and Compliance
- Anglo-Eastern is a law-abiding corporate citizen. We respect and adhere to the laws and regulations of all relevant jurisdictions and foster lasting relationships with government authorities wherever we operate.
- We support and respect the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, plus all relevant labour and employment laws.
- We comply with the rules, regulations and standards required by such industry bodies as IMO, BIMCO and INTERTANKO, amongst others, often going above and beyond minimum requirements.
- All of our offices and managed vessels are regularly audited by both internal and external parties to ensure proper governance and compliance.
- Our internal auditing team comprises master mariners and chief engineers who are responsible for conducting onboard audits of our fleet on an annual basis.
- We are certified to ISO 9001 Quality Management standards.

- We use good judgement to avoid conflicts of interest and seek guidance in unclear situations.
- Our people are prohibited from seeking personal gains, favours or other benefits though their position or association with Anglo-Eastern, including access to insider information.
- We believe and engage in only free and fair competition that is ethical and in compliance with relevant competition and anti-trust laws.
- We have a zero-policy tolerance for bribery and corruption, as backed by our Anti-Corruption Policy and Anti-Bribery and Corruption Guidelines.
- Any policy breaches will result in internal disciplinary action, including but not limited to summary dismissal. Where laws are breached, we will co-operate with the local authorities as appropriate.

- We believe in transparency and disclosure, whilst remaining mindful of confidential information and data privacy.
- Data security and recovery are a top priority. We safeguard all data entrusted to us and ensure that any confidential information is treated as such.
- We do not condone or tolerate the use of confidential information for insider trading and personal gain.
- We take our data privacy obligations seriously, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Personal data is only used for the purpose(s) for which such data was given. We do not sell personal data to third-parties.
- Social media usage by our crew and employees is governed by our Social Media Policy.
