DNS course is approved by Directorate general of Shipping and conducted under affiliation to Indian Maritime University. Cadets are awarded IMU Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) after successful completion of completion of 2 semester of 6 months duration each at the Academy.
Semesters III, IV, V of approximate 6 months duration each, is completed onboard ship. After total 18 months of shipboard training, cadet has to attend Second Mates (Foreign Going)Competency Course for 4 months duration and appear in second Mates (F.G) Certificate of Competency (C.O.C) examination conducted by Mercantile Marine Department, Govt of India.
On successful completion of Second Mates(F.G) COC examination and completing applicable STCW modular courses, cadet is awarded Second Mates (F.G) Certificate of Competency by D.G. Shipping, Govt of India.
On Successful completion of semester examinations and Second Mates examination, cadet is awarded degree of B.Sc (Applied Nautical Science) by Indian Maritime University.

Age Limit
The minimum age should be 17 yrs and maximum age should be 25 yrs on the date of commencement of course (Course usually commences on 1″Feoruary and 1′ August during every year). Relaxation of 5 years is available for SC/ST candidates and 2 years for Girl candidates
Physical and Medical Standards
Physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DG Shipping guidelines, 6/6 eyesight without visual aids and no colour blindness

IMU Common Entrance Test

It is mandatory by Indian Maritime University that all candidates joining the DNS programme should clear the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) for the respective batch. After submission of online application, candidate will receive an email with details of the payment for the online entrance test.
Payment
Make online payment of fees for Online Entrance Test.
Once the payment is made, candidate will receive a confirmation email, wherein a URL Link will be provided to book seat for Online Entrance Test.
Candidates can choose the desired test centre and date/ time slot on which they would like to appear (based on availability) and book the seat accordingly.
Candidates who pass the online entrance test and psychometric evaluation will further be called for a “Panel Interview” at Mumbai or Delhi.

Panel Interview
Shortlisted candidates who have passed the online tests shall be notified via email to appear for an interview. The interviews will be held on specific dates either at Mumbai or Delhi. A candidate is required to present himself in formal attire (with tie). They are required to carry the original mark sheets and certificates of Xth, Xllth, and Degree certificates, as applicable. While due weightage is given to Academics, importance is also given to achievements in extra-curricular activities, sports etc. which indicate an all round personality of the candidate. The interviews are held without any prejudice and selection will be based purely on merit.

Medical Examination and Eye-test
Candidates, who pass the interview, will be directed to undergo medical examination conducted by company-appointed doctors. The same doctor will also be conducting an Eye-Test which conforms to the requirements of medical examination rules of Directorate General of Shipping. The results of the medical/eye tests are directly forwarded to the company by the doctor.

Provisional Selection Letter
Canddates who clear above selection procedure will be issued with Provisional Selection Letter.
In order to reserve their seat at Academy and obtain Final Selection Letter, candidates will have to submit following documents:

B. Sc./ Graduation original mark sheet (if applicable)
Original Birth Certificate
Migration / Transfer Certificate
Passport (either applied for or in possession)
Medical fitness report (directly received from company approved doctor)

Offer Letter from Anglo-Eastern
Final Merit List will be prepared for provisionally selected candidates. Merit list gives adequate weightage to various parameters like – Class- XII PCM%, Score in Anglo-Eastern Online Test, Interview score, IMU CET Ranking. For August Batch total 160 candidates and for February batch total 80 candidates will be selected from the Merit list. Finally selected candidates will be issued with Final Offer Letter, Joining Instructions and Fee Structure details.
Admission Calendar
AEMA currently offers 2 DNS courses through the year i.e. in February (batch of 80) & August (batch of 160). Generally, around 2 months prior to both these batches, is the IMU-CET which is held in December or January for the February batch and in June for the August batch. The IMU-CET is a mandatory examination for DNS course.
